Creating a Logo Design? Keep these 5 Aspects in Mind

Article by Amit Kumar Sarkar

This article discusses about some of the things designers should consider while designing logos for clients. Designers might get confused with several design concepts and ideas. Experimenting with colors, projecting the business image, revamping the designs, working as a team, and taking client inputs are some of the things designers should remember.

The most difficult aspect of designing a logo is the selection of the right design elements. This is the greatest challenge that most designers face. The confusion amplifies even more when designers have to choose from several design concepts. Which of these designs will be liked by the client? This is the question that worries a logo design artist.

There are also endless views and suggestions designers reflect on. Ask any designer from a reputed logo design solutions firm, and they will tell you how difficult it is to choose from numerous ideas and concepts.

This article will highlight some of the things that designers should remember while creating a logo.

1. Experiment with Different Colors

Lets face it guys! It is rich and vibrant colors that attract human vision. Though there are people who say that loud colors will spoils a logo, I do not agree with them. If your business has a lot of fun and excitement surrounding it, then always employ vivid colors to grab customer’s attention.

Try designing the logo using several color combinations. If you are catering to the food and beverage industry, you should use bright shades of red or yellow. Have a look at the logos of McDonalds or Pizza Hut. Both of these fast food companies use bright red in their logo. Also make the background and fonts of the logo colorful.

2. Projecting Business Image

The logo you design should tell your audience something about the client business. Every business is different and has something special to offer. Have you ever pondered what makes your client business so special? First think of it, and then start conceptualizing the logo. Not before that!

The design and graphics you are creating should be able to differentiate the business of your client from its competitors. You have to think of the specialties of the products or services it offers. Think of how the products will benefit, and add value to customers.

3. What About Redecorating!

There are people who hold that redecorating a logo is a bad idea. They will tell you that it is not good for your business image, and has adverse effect. However, tweaking design styles, color schemes, background or fonts sometimes become important for spicing up your logo.

You should always be open to experimenting. Try out the latest design styles, and see how your audience reacts to it. If they do not like the design, then alter it or go for a complete redecoration. If your existing logo is failing to grab customer attention, then why not redesign it!

Therefore, do away with your old logo that has failed to make a mark, and embrace newer design ideas and styles.

4. Take Client Inputs

Just because you are a designer, it doesn’t mean that you will ignore what your clients have to say. I would suggest that your primary focus should be on the design brief provided by the client. Follow it religiously to design a logo rather than integrating designs that you think is appropriate.

It is the client who knows his business better than anyone else! The main objective of designing for your client should be to create a positive and memorable brand image. It should not be designed because you like a specific color or font.

I am not saying that you stop thinking creatively, but the logo should serve the purpose of the client to enhance the brand image. Therefore, always ask for client inputs.

5. Team Work

When you are creating a logo for your client, it is important that you discuss with senior designers. There are experienced designers who will guide you to and give valuable feedback to improve the design. Working single handedly will not take you too far in the designing process.

To make the logo memorable, work as a team so that you create something professional. Brainstorm with other designers so that you can deliver your client the logo he wants! If you are facing a creative block, other designers will be able to assist you to give shape to your unfinished ideas. Therefore, always team up!

I hope that the above tips prove helpful when you get your next logo project.

Creating an individual cafe

Article by Adele Springate

With chain cafes springing up on every street, competition for independent offerings has never been so high. With a plethora of similarly designed establishments available to consumers, it is important to set your business out from the rest, offering something different. To increase footfall to your café, try offering an individual menu, such as locally sourced produce and fair-trade coffee or a range of specialist pastries. Establish a key trend your café will target, whether that is the eco friendly market, the boutique writers market or the young professionals segment, aiming your menu offering at your target audience.

Furnish your cafe accordingly – if you are aiming for the out-of-the-ordinary boutique market, use bookshelves, wrought iron fixtures, vintage accessories and ensure you include at least one leather sofa for a more relaxed dining experience. For an uber modern look, try a minimalist white theme with designer tables and clean lined furniture. Add a statement piece of artwork to this theme, drawing the eye to a focal point – this artwork could even incorporate your menu.

Brand your staff uniforms and menu with your logo, ensuring this is visible in all promotional material and signage. This will give your customers an idea of your brand identity and allow them to easily recognise your café. On the recruitment side of matters, ensure you hire a well-rounded team with a mixture of experiences to offer your customers vital opinions on types of coffee and menu options to choose. Bright, bubbly and well-presented staff work best in a café, forming a relationship with your clientele, so choose your staff wisely.

Make sure you promote the opening of your café with a ‘Grand Opening’ – inviting suppliers, local businesses and send out printed marketing material to entice new customers to your event. Offer complementary coffee and a sample menu and don’t forget to invite the local paper’s food critic to cover the event.
