Creating a Logo Design? Keep these 5 Aspects in Mind

Article by Amit Kumar Sarkar

This article discusses about some of the things designers should consider while designing logos for clients. Designers might get confused with several design concepts and ideas. Experimenting with colors, projecting the business image, revamping the designs, working as a team, and taking client inputs are some of the things designers should remember.

The most difficult aspect of designing a logo is the selection of the right design elements. This is the greatest challenge that most designers face. The confusion amplifies even more when designers have to choose from several design concepts. Which of these designs will be liked by the client? This is the question that worries a logo design artist.

There are also endless views and suggestions designers reflect on. Ask any designer from a reputed logo design solutions firm, and they will tell you how difficult it is to choose from numerous ideas and concepts.

This article will highlight some of the things that designers should remember while creating a logo.

1. Experiment with Different Colors

Lets face it guys! It is rich and vibrant colors that attract human vision. Though there are people who say that loud colors will spoils a logo, I do not agree with them. If your business has a lot of fun and excitement surrounding it, then always employ vivid colors to grab customer’s attention.

Try designing the logo using several color combinations. If you are catering to the food and beverage industry, you should use bright shades of red or yellow. Have a look at the logos of McDonalds or Pizza Hut. Both of these fast food companies use bright red in their logo. Also make the background and fonts of the logo colorful.

2. Projecting Business Image

The logo you design should tell your audience something about the client business. Every business is different and has something special to offer. Have you ever pondered what makes your client business so special? First think of it, and then start conceptualizing the logo. Not before that!

The design and graphics you are creating should be able to differentiate the business of your client from its competitors. You have to think of the specialties of the products or services it offers. Think of how the products will benefit, and add value to customers.

3. What About Redecorating!

There are people who hold that redecorating a logo is a bad idea. They will tell you that it is not good for your business image, and has adverse effect. However, tweaking design styles, color schemes, background or fonts sometimes become important for spicing up your logo.

You should always be open to experimenting. Try out the latest design styles, and see how your audience reacts to it. If they do not like the design, then alter it or go for a complete redecoration. If your existing logo is failing to grab customer attention, then why not redesign it!

Therefore, do away with your old logo that has failed to make a mark, and embrace newer design ideas and styles.

4. Take Client Inputs

Just because you are a designer, it doesn’t mean that you will ignore what your clients have to say. I would suggest that your primary focus should be on the design brief provided by the client. Follow it religiously to design a logo rather than integrating designs that you think is appropriate.

It is the client who knows his business better than anyone else! The main objective of designing for your client should be to create a positive and memorable brand image. It should not be designed because you like a specific color or font.

I am not saying that you stop thinking creatively, but the logo should serve the purpose of the client to enhance the brand image. Therefore, always ask for client inputs.

5. Team Work

When you are creating a logo for your client, it is important that you discuss with senior designers. There are experienced designers who will guide you to and give valuable feedback to improve the design. Working single handedly will not take you too far in the designing process.

To make the logo memorable, work as a team so that you create something professional. Brainstorm with other designers so that you can deliver your client the logo he wants! If you are facing a creative block, other designers will be able to assist you to give shape to your unfinished ideas. Therefore, always team up!

I hope that the above tips prove helpful when you get your next logo project.

Cafe Blinds: Know The Ins And Outs Before You Buy!

Article by Joe Maldonado

Cafe blinds are an almost classic feature of the modern cafe, a built in character piece. This dates back to the original French bistros, when attracting customers was achieved mainly by being visible. “Cafe style” as it is now known is a descendant of these design motifs. The outdoor blinds in particular are very much a part of the cafe’s image.

These blinds can present some unique issues for design. This is a business where everything has to look upscale, and has to match the design motifs of the cafe. Style, presence and character are also major issues, because blinds occupy a large amount of highly visible space.

Functionality is the other issue, and it can be a problem in its own right. Lighting can be variable depending on location, and it may take a while to figure out what’s needed, and where. Some areas may get too much light, others may get none because of the way they are facing, and light has to be allowed in to compensate.

Outdoor blinds and awnings are a feature of classic French cafe design. They’re actually commercial images for customers, and these external features are often used as attention getters. Outdoor awnings and sunscreen blinds are often used as elegant design features. They’re a type of fashion statement, and they can look fantastic, particularly in a really well designed cafe environment.

Cafe blinds and awnings need to be more than decorative, however. They’re working blinds and awnings, and they need to be able to take sunlight, weather and the local environment. A common choice for the external fittings is heavy duty material, weatherproof, and very tough.

Color fading is another issue. The best quality outdoor blinds have excellent pigmentation, are properly sealed, and won’t “evaporate” in the summer sun. The added advantage of these very durable fittings is that they’re also much easier to clean, sparing cafe owners the eyesore effect of faded, drab-looking external shop fronts.

It’s quite common for cafe owners to have special requirements for their blinds, outdoor blinds and awnings. Certain areas, particularly areas like balconies and sidewalk tables, may require particular combinations of features, like sunscreens, sunroofs, or other things requiring customization and special fitting.

Some cafes have large areas to deal with, and sometimes complex floor settings which mean managing light is a real issue. Fortunately, this is less of a design problem than it seems. The best suppliers can provide a full service consultation, and plenty of options in these areas. It’s a good idea to ask for some help when dealing with these issues, because it’s possible to commit to a major purchase and find that the layout doesn’t work. A phone call to a professional installer can solve these issues before they happen.

Modern cafes have some of the most beautiful interior designs, with the interior natural lighting as one of their best features, thanks to good blinds and top quality design.

Consult your local window treatment specialists if you are having a hard time deciding on what design or material to use for your restaurant. They provide full service consultations. It is always a wise idea to seek for help. It would be a major mistake if you have already purchased outdoor cafe blinds and then you find out they do not fit at all on your restaurant windows, but professional window treatment providers can help solve the issue and make your restaurant stand out from the rest.

8 Commercial Interior Design Tips to Transform Your Restaurant/Cafe on a Small Budget

Article by Studiopublic

Eating out is all about the experience. The customer pays accordingly depending on the quality of food, the size and location of the place, the reviews and it’s popularity. Profit margins are tight and constantly being squeezed, whether that’s due to competition, inflation, fashion or the countless other factors. For some, the decision to invest in a refurbishment and employ a designer is a natural process…the space is tired and in need of a re-think. For others, that decision is a whole lot harder and it’s primarily down to a lack of a budget.

With many design projects, if the wrong people are involved then it can be very costly, with targets, budgets and time frames sliding ever further away. But, done correctly from the outset, and with a good design and build team, the process can be managed to meet any budget and any time frame. Listed in this article are our top 8 interior design tips on how to transform your restaurant or cafe on a limited budget…..

1. Employ a fully qualified designer. Why? Well, they could actually save you money in the end. They will take a professional objective approach to your space as they have no emotional connections with it. They can also bring a lot of good contacts to the job, good trades people, suppliers, joiners, and fitters. Think about it, they won’t recommend anyone that they haven’t worked with in the past as it’s their reputation on the line as well!

2. Flooring. If it’s a timber floor simply sand it back and re-stain. It will look as good as new. If you have carpet, replace with a more practical timber effect vinyl flooring. These are very cost effective after having fallen in price over the last few years, good for acoustics, easily maintained, hygienic and can be fitted very quickly.

3. Re-clad the joinery items. If you’re not wanting to re-space plan the entire restaurant then you will have to make do with the location of certain things ie. the servery counter, the bar, waiter/ress stations. If you think they need replacing have a good look, as you would be surprised as to how you can transform these items relatively easily. Phone a joiner to come down to cost the replacement of the timber top. Clad the front in tiles. Insert a lighting strip under the counters leading edge.

4. Bespoke or ‘off the shelf’ lighting pendants. Adding pendant lighting is such a cheap and striking tip to transform the space. Lighting can drastically change the mood of the space between day and night and is key to the success of a space.

5. New paint scheme. Yes, it’s the most obvious and cheapest of the bunch, but if done well it really does work. If, however, which is very often the case, it goes wrong it isn’t so good. If in doubt go neutral, bright colours in a dining environment are not condusive to a relaxed environment.

6. Design feature. If you have a large wall or an area that most people will see, attempt to make this a design feature. Whether it’s a full scale graphic, cladding, a lighting feature or even a collection of pictures, this is a really good cost effective solution that really will transform your space.

7. Space plan. This one is crucial. If the space isn’t working, simply move the furniture around. Make the flow of people better. Insert timber screens to create privacy and zone areas. Ensure there is adequate space between tables. Don’t put people next to the door. Have provision for buggies and a baby changing area. Try to zone the space into different groups of people (if your offering suggests this). For example, have an area of 2 seaters for couples, 4 seaters for families and make the space flexible for parties and groups.

8. New signage. You won’t attract the customer into your restaurant if the exterior is looking dated. Invest in a modern looking fascia, with swing signs, A boards and make sure it’s illuminated so customers can see it when it’s dark! You’d be surprised at the number of under illuminated fascias – remember, if they won ‘t see you they won’t come in!

How To Come Up With A Unique and Enthralling Cafe Logo Design?

Article by Tammy Becker

With such a drastic increase in coffee shops everywhere, it has become necessary to create a brand identity that differentiates it from the rest. A logo is a brand identity that will talk on the behalf of your business whether you are physically present there or not.

Let us now discuss what is the real purpose of a cafe logo design?

Obviously, you want to imprint your brand identity on the minds of your existing and potential customers and that can only be done when your corporate identity is unique and alluring. A coffee shop identity would always be there to represent your company to the viewers. It is a multi-purpose phenomenon which will provide you an edge over your competitors.

But with so many coffee shop identities in the market; it has become even more difficult to recognize a brand. Not only that every coffee shop owner wants a conventional and common logo for his business such as a coffee mug incorporated in it. This is the first thing which springs into the mind of a coffee shop owner when it comes to create a brand identity but don’t you think it will only confuse your customers.

The idea about incorporating a coffee mug in the logo is so overly done that one should come up with new and refreshing ideas if he wants to establish a brand in the market. Let me tell you an example; have you ever seen rainforest cafe logo? If not then search for it. It is done in a very different and unconventional way that has made its mark in the crowd of so many coffee shop businesses.

It just consists of the text,” Rainforest Café” with no icon in it. Still it has turned itself into a well known brand. Therefore, café owners should come up with a representation that symbolizes the unique selling proposition of their coffee shop in a way that is unique, refreshing and enthralling.

Don’t you know, it is a store which is in front of the people, the frontage and signage would make it clear to the passersby that it’s a coffee shop so you don’t have to reinforce it by employing a mug in your corporate identity?

So, to be unconventional, unique and unparalleled is the meat and potatoes of the whole argument. All you have to do is to find a professional graphic design service that will ensure a stand out corporate identity for your business but be careful in selecting a graphic design service as there are so many out there. For this purpose, you need to conduct a brief research work and find the best one in town which will not only suit your pocket but also deliver the final result as per your business requirements. So, don’t waste any further time and get your café business identity from a professional graphic designer in no time.
